Position
The Program Manager role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining and fostering effective communication. This role requires one to lead cross-functional teams, maintaining continuous alignment with customers, and suppliers. The Program Manager is responsible for coordination and management of all phases of execution, from inception (i.e., proposal development) through completion (i.e., contract closeout). This position requires a self-motivated, quick learner with a demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and successful project execution.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages and directs the daily execution of multiple internal and external programs within contract requirements to assure that cost, schedule, and performance goals are met.
Leads cross-functional technical and non-technical teams through program completion.
Creates project plans, schedules, risk analysis, and reports.
Tracks all program cost, schedules, and performance against established program milestones, while also reporting the status to management stakeholders on a regular basis.
Develops and implements recovery plans for yellow and red programs and tasks (i.e., schedule and technical performance).
Develops and maintains customer relationships and ensures customer needs are met.
Leads monthly program reviews for each program under management.
Conducts program reviews that identify root-cause and corrective action as well as continuous improvement and financial performance.
Mentor and train co-workers in program and project management disciplines and methods to enhance company capabilities and performance.
Works closely with the Business Development team to plan for future opportunities for existing customers and solutions for new customers.
Works to continuously improve efficiency and automate processes where practical.
Completes other duties as assigned by manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises one (1) employee within the Program Management team.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the employee handbook and company policies.
Ensures that employee guidelines and procedures are adhered to.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employee(s); addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Establishes goals and clearly communicates projects and/or tasks to direct report(s).
Evaluates and monitors performance of direct report(s) by providing timely and effective feedback on areas of success, improvement, and/or skill development.
Conducts and submits annual performance reviews for direct report(s).
Provides training that will increase productivity within your team.
Approves timesheets and time off requests in the HR system for direct report(s).
Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in business (or relevant field) along with 7 years of program/project management experience OR a Master’s degree in business (or relevant field) along with 5 years of program/project management experience.
Must have at least 1 Program/Project Management Professional Cerification (e.g., PMP/PMI or DAU). • Ability to establish and apply a technical performance baseline to monitor and assess program status against key performance indicators.
The ability to quickly idenify and resolve issues with strategic solutions or process improvements that support long-term objectives.
Knowledge and execution of a variety of programs with different financial structures (e.g., FFP, CPFF etc.). • Must have Sourcing/Supply Chain Management experience that includes strategic planning.
Knowledge of program/project management tools and procedures (e.g., MS Project and Visio).
Experience with earned value cost accounting and reporting is preferred.
Experience with metrics for assessing and reporting program progress, productivity, and variance analysis is desired.
Experience in Finance, contracting, export regulations, engineering, logistics, manufacturing and supply chain management is preferred.
Excellent verbal and writen communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders or customers.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be self-motivated, dynamic, and a creative team player.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
