POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Network Engineer (SNE) supports the delivery and sustainment of the Business Network (BN). The SNE will execute all network engineering activities aligned with core service delivery capabilities and bespoke customer solutions. All engineering solutions will support corporate goals and objectives, adhering to Company policies for security as established by the Company. The SNE will lead projects ensuring collaborative and consistent solution delivery, on time, and within approved budgets and work collaboratively with Operations to ensure delivered solutions are sustainable and supportable by Operations staff.


The SNE will regularly lead multiple projects and perform project activities such as planning, requirements gathering, design configuration and testing. The SNE collaborates with the EACOWT Sales Engineers and clients’ technical staff to ensure alignment and congruency between the client’s infrastructure and proposed custom solutions in order to affect a seamless integration and implementation of technologies. The SNE will ensure that all required elements of the BN are in a managed state to include configuration of network management servers, necessary elements of the BN are alerted against in a way that Engineering and Operations are proactively notified in the event of a failure.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Validate the appropriate configuration for all Global Access Nodes and Value-Added Services to support deployment and sustainment of hybrid Geo, MEO and LEO satellite networks.

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)

  • Plan/perform network maintenance and system upgrades.

  • Ensure that all IP endpoints are managed and monitored properly using provided tools.

  • Ensure that all serialized equipment inventories are maintained and accurate.

  • Document network as-builts for the Business Network.

  • Assist in the network planning and recommendation terrestrial connectivity.

  • Own and resolve complex technical issues within the Business Network relating to satellite and terrestrial networks.

  • Responsible to drive issues to closure.

  • Implement and maintain periodic performance metrics that ensure the proper operation of the satellite and terrestrial networks at all facilities.

  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

  • Perform network and security audits supporting Security Operations.

  • Ensure that all appropriate BN infrastructure is maintained to outlined policies and directives.

  • Automate processes where practical.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities for this role currently.


EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications engineering or Computer Science  with Physics, or Mathematics.

  • JNCIP-SP or JNCIP-ENT required.

  • JNCIS-SEC required.

  • Advanced knowledge of Juniper OS and networking hardware including router, switch, and firewall product lines.

  • Expert level of knowledge in designing, deploying, and sustaining large scale global IP networks.

  • Subject matter expert knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS traffic engineering and VPN technologies.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS


EXPERIENCE


  • 10+ years prior experience in network design, implementation, and installation.

  • 10+ years designing, planning, implementation, and supporting iDirect technology-based networks.

  • Experience in provisioning, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

TRAVEL


  • Domestic and International travel is required for this role. Travel is anticipated to be less than 20%.
