Position


The Documentation Specialist Intern in the Engineering and Technology department is crucial in creating, maintaining, and updating technical documentation related to engineering processes, system architecture, and compliance standards. This role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who are eager to learn about complex engineering systems and have the ability to effectively communicate across various technical teams. As an intern, you will gain invaluable exposure to the engineering domain, becoming adept in documenting intricate systems and processes that drive our technological solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Documentation Development: Extract and synthesize critical information to create clear and detailed documentation for engineering systems and processes. This includes system designs, operational procedures, compliance documents, and technical guides. Develop and maintain standardized documentation templates to ensure consistency across all engineering documentation.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, system architects, and compliance officers to ensure that documentation accurately reflects technical specifications and operational requirements. Collect information directly from the engineering teams to produce precise content.

  • Content Management: Oversee the internal documentation library, ensuring all materials are current and readily accessible to staff.

  • Implement documentation strategies and tools for optimal content management and retrieval.

  • Quality Assurance: Review and revise documentation to uphold high-quality and consistency standards. Ensure all documents are accurate and updated in line with engineering changes and stakeholder feedback.

  • Training Support: Help in developing training materials and technical guides that aid in the onboarding of new engineers and the ongoing education of current staff on new systems and technologies.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly update all relevant stakeholders on the availability of new and revised documentation. Respond to specific documentation inquiries and requests from team members.

  • Feedback Incorporation: Actively seek and integrate feedback from engineering teams and internal users to enhance the documentation process and outputs.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred but not required.

  • Interest or experience in learning about engineering processes and technical documentation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely explain complex information.

  • Interest in creating graphical representations of technical data and processes (e.g., flowcharts, system diagrams).

  • Eagerness to learn about engineering tools and systems.

  • Experience using documentation tools like Jira, Confluence, or other technical documentation software is a plus.
